Rebuild the connection you thought was lost
In a quiet, judgment-free space on Sacramento Street, couples find their way back to each other — through honest conversation, deeper understanding, and practical tools for lasting change.
A safe harbor for your relationship
Relationships are the most rewarding thing we experience — and often the most painful when they fracture. I'm Linda Michels, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Francisco's Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood.
My practice is built on a simple conviction: every couple carries within them the capacity for healing and growth. Sometimes, they just need a steady guide to help them find their way back to each other.
I work with couples at every stage — those newly navigating commitment, those who have been together for decades and want to rediscover one another, and individuals seeking to understand their relational patterns more deeply.
How we can work together
Every relationship is unique, and so is the path to healing. I offer several ways to support your journey.
Couples Counseling
A dedicated space for two people to unpack what's keeping them stuck — and discover new ways of relating that feel authentic and sustainable.
Pre-Marital Counseling
Build a strong foundation before you say "I do." Explore communication styles, conflict resolution, and shared values with intention and care.
Relationship Recovery
After betrayal, repeated arguments, or emotional distance — learn how to rebuild trust and create a relationship you both feel proud of.
Individual Therapy
Sometimes the most powerful change begins within. Explore your patterns, heal old wounds, and show up more fully in your relationships.
Online Sessions
Therapy from the comfort of your home via secure video. Same warmth, same expertise — just a screen between us instead of a wall.
Communication Skills
Learn practical tools for expressing needs, listening deeply, and navigating disagreements with respect and curiosity instead of resentment.
Therapy that feels human
I draw from several evidence-based approaches, tailoring each session to what you and your partner need in that moment.
Emotionally Focused
EFT helps couples identify and reshape the negative interaction cycles that create distance and pain.
Gottman Method
Research-based techniques for building friendship, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning.
Attachment-Informed
Understanding how early bonds shape your adult relationships and how to create secure connection.
Narrative Therapy
Separate the problem from the person and rewrite the story your relationship tells about itself.
The greatest thing a human being ever does in this world is to see something clearly. In therapy, we work toward seeing each other — and ourselves — with fresh eyes.
